Dr. Agarwal has been practicing as Chartered Accountant since February 1982. He is the Visiting Faculty in Institute of Company Secretaries of India in Modular Training Programme. He is also the Director of Institute of International Trade, Kolkata. 
He has participated in various international conference/seminars such as 5th WTO Ministerial Conference in Cancun, Mexico, 10-14th September 2003; 6th Ministerial Conference held in Hong Kong from 13-18th December,2005. He joined Bar Council of Tripura in the year 2002 and practiced as a lawyer for more than 7 years in both civil as well as criminal side. In the year 2009, he was selected in Tripura Judicial Services Grade-III as a Tenure Judge. After successful completion of Judicial Service Training at NEJOTI, Gauhati he got his first posting as Judicial Magistrate First Class, Agartala, West Tripura on 18.01.2010 and then in the year 2011, he was posted as Civil Judge Junior Division-cum-Judicial Magistrate First Class, Khowai, West Tripura. Thus, he has been dealing with all categories of cases and having experience of more than 5 years as a Judge in both civil and criminal side. He also held the post of Member-Secretary of the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee of the State and as such, having skill in arbitration and conciliation matters as well.
